About this place
What is Haswell, Isaac M., House?
This farmhouse in the Town of Colonie, Albany County, New York, was built for Isaac M. Haswell. Haswell was a successful farmer who held about 160 acres. Its design follows the Italianate style, with detailed decoration on a two-story form. A one-story porch spans the front. Above the porch, at the center, a projecting bay rises on the second story. The entrance has double doors fitted with glass panels. Inside, plaster ornament and carved woodwork survive. A two-story ell projects from the rear of the main section. The property has lost its outbuildings, and its land was subdivided. The Haswell Cemetery sits across the street, behind a brick building Thomas Haswell once owned.
